Just Add Water

At Goldfish, we know swimming provides benefits that you’ll love, not just for your kids, but for the whole family. Sometimes, you just need to add water.

Quality Time

It can be difficult enough to get the entire family together at the same time because of school, work and extracurricular activities – but finding something to do together that everyone enjoys is a whole other issue.

That’s why swimming is great: All ages can easily interact, at every skill level!

At Goldfish Swim School, we offer Family Swim sessions where everyone can jump right in (even non-members!). We have lifejackets for the littles who can’t swim quite yet, and our pools have benches in the water that they can stand or sit on. Kids can also play on our wide array of floaties – which may include a little boat, slide and more fun water toys! Plus, the older kids (and parents) can dive underwater to retrieve rings and play other water games.

Oh, and did we mention our pools are always set at a balmy 90 degrees, so you don’t have to have any trepidation about getting in! That’s something to celebrate!

Water Safety

Every person, regardless of age, should know how to be safer in and around the water. That’s why our instructors use integrity, compassion and trust during every single lesson at Goldfish Swim School to teach water safety skills.

Kids learn:

  • How to identify lifeguards
  • To swim with an adult nearby
  • What to do if they accidentally fall in the water
  • How to jump in the water safely
  • How to roll over and float in the water
  • What to do in a potential emergency (this goes for parents, too!)

What if you, as a parent, don’t know how to swim? That’s OK. We understand. But that doesn’t mean you can’t help your kids learn — and we’ll be happy to help! We want you to help your kids stay safer and you can help by knowing the answers to these six water safety questions every parent should ask.

Health Benefits

We’re running from activity to activity all day long it seems, but how much time are we spending actually running or doing exercise of any kind? It’s one of those things that can be difficult to pencil in – especially for kids. Luckily, swimming is a GREAT form of exercise for kids and adults, and pretty much every fitness level.

Swimming provides a variety of benefits for kids of all ages, not the least of which is physical. Since swimming uses multiple muscle groups, it’s an all-over workout…without being your average workout. It increases strength and endurance, and the exercise promotes better sleep and eating habits. And swimming is FUN! (That’s why we’ve incorporated The Science of SwimPlay® into our curriculum.)

Bonus: You don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to swim. The buoyancy of the water provides stability for those with injuries, and it’s the kind of physical activity where you can set your own pace: YOU decide how fast you want to go, for how far, and the duration. When you’re tired, you can easily slow down a bit while still getting your heart pumping.
