Celebrate Water Safety
It's Bath Safety Month!
January is Bath Safety Month! Here are some tips every parent needs to know! 1. Never leave you child alone in the tub, or in the care of another child, even for a moment. Water doesn't have to be deep to be dangerous, and accidently can happen in seconds. 2. Stay within arm's reach whenever your child is near water, including the bathtub. Have everything you need - soap, washcloth, towel, etc. - ready and within reach so you can keep one hand on your baby at all times. 3. Safety proof the tub. Use non-skid mats to prevent slipping and put a soft cover on the faucet to prevent little ones from bumping their head. 4. Keep the water shallow. You don't need to fill up the tub to get your kiddo squeaky clean. Keep the water shallow and use a cup to pour water over your child when washing up. 5. Drain the tub completely (and immediately) after each use. Pull the drain plug to prevent the tub from filling up with water if a child were to turn on the faucet. 6. Protect your baby from other bathroom hazards. Install safety latches on bathroom doors and keep them closed when not in use. For added security, install safety locks on toilet lids, too.
