5 Fin-tastic Moments of 2021 Worthy of Celebrating

Taking the time to Celebrate! Life’s Accomplishments is a Core Value at Goldfish Swim School. Throughout our franchise organization, Goldfish owners and team members take great pride in being there as children celebrate success within our program and outside of our four walls, and as we close out 2021 - a year of celebrating our crew and our members - we want to take a moment to celebrate our top 5 wave-making moments!

1. Franchise Times recognizes Goldfish for making a splash across the country!

For the fourth consecutive year, Franchise Times recognized Goldfish Swim School as part of their “Fast & Serious” 2021 franchises. Recognition for this award comes directly from a system’s ability to create sustainable growth. Our Science of Swim Play® curriculum and philosophy, combined with the perpetual need for life-saving swim lessons, makes Goldfish Swim School poised for continued growth. We are so excited to swim into the new year and the pool of possibilities it brings!

3. Gliding into growth! Goldfish Swim School signs an exclusive 19-unit development deal.

As owners come into Goldfish, they typically sign on for 1-2 locations, adding additional locations as their schools grow. In fact, 68% of our owners own more than one school. In 2021, Goldfish Swim School signed its largest multi-unit contract to date—with a commitment for 19 schools! Currently, Goldfish has more than 44 schools in the real estate or construction phase of development across the country.

4. From National News Coverage to Partnerships with Community Leaders, the mission of Goldfish is making ripples that reach across the country.

Each year, thousands of news outlets reach out to Goldfish for insights on water safety and swim instruction. This year garnered features in national outlets including Parents Magazine, Scary Mommy, Yahoo, and USA Today. During an interview with Kelly Rippa and Ryan Seacrest on their nationally syndicated morning show, Co-Founder Jenny McCuiston shared summer water safety tips. This practical advice reminded parents that water safety needs to be on the front of our minds - and that some simple planning can reduce the risk of accidental drowning. To further our reach, Goldfish’s Safer Swimmer Pledge initiative helped bring the national conversation to kitchen tables- encouraging parents and their children to commit to doing the right things when swimming.

Kelly & Ryan weren’t the only A-Listers helping share Goldfish’s mission and brand. World Champion swimmer, Ryan Murphy brought Goldfish Swim School center-lane during the Olympic Time Trials with his My Cause segment on the essential nature of water safety. After his victory at the Tokyo Games, Ryan, as an ambassador of the USA Swimming Foundation, continuously worked to make waves for water safety. To help extend the reach of the importance of water safety, Ryan crafted an open letter to USA Today which was distributed by their publication.

A partnership with Dr. Molly O’Shea has added her own kick to Goldfish’s community education - not only helping parents with safety information but also providing great insights on raising healthy, happy children.

Our newest partner, is Cullen Jones, 2012 Olympic Gold Medalist. As a lifelong swimmer and now father, Cullen’s voice will be an engaging force in the years to come.

With a mission of keeping children safe in and around the water, Goldfish and its partners are making a difference each day.

5. Creating Golden Experiences through Giving Back to our Communities.

We want to be a wave of positive change in our communities by reducing water-related accidents and helping those around us. In 2021, our schools have soaked up the opportunity to give back to their communities. Through our partnership with Alijah’s Awareness, we’ve made swim instruction more accessible through scholarships.

Goldfish owners have donated countless hours to schools and community organizations to do free W.A.T.E.R. Safety Presentations for children. Helping children make waves in life has led our teams to some amazing opportunities as well. Earlier this year (for the eigth year in a row), one of our fintastic franchise owners brought a crew of Goldfish volunteers to a remote fishing village in Belize to do just that, helping teach water safety and swim instruction to the children of this town. While in Belize, Alex and his team of volunteers built a home and treatment facility for the village nurse and constructed a new play structure for the local elementary school. Our schools helped foster support for the Make a Wish Foundation, and gathered coats, books, school supplies, and cleaning supplies to help directly in their communities and beyond. Our owners and members are making a positive impact.

We have so much to be grateful for! As we plan for 2022, we want to help make more dreams come true—dreams of learning new skills, diving into new careers, and owning a meaningful business.
